Theresa Barton's Obituary
Huntersville, NC - Theresa Gyorky Barton, 76, died December 31, 2020.
She was born Feb. 10, 1944 in Yugoslavia. She was preceded in death by her parents Teresa and Louis Gyorky.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years James Barton; her children, James Barton (Amy) of Denver and Cheryl Knesel (Eric) of Huntersville; her grandchildren, Teresa, Alex, Jay and Jason; her brother Joe Gyorky (Ann) of North Olmsted, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She taught math in Oak Park, MI and wrote computer programs for AT&T in Cleveland, OH before becoming a full time mother and volunteer. Upon moving to NC she continued to volunteer, eventually working for the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association for 30 years. She retired to become a full time grandmother in Huntersville and loved every minute.
Services will be held at 11am on Monday, January 11, 2020 at St. Mark Church Catholic Church, Huntersville. Per her request, if you plan to attend her funeral service, please wear colorful clothes and remember her for happy times.
