Thomas Goodrum's Obituary
Thomas Eugene Goodrum passed away at age 77 Thursday, May 14, 2020 at his home in Cumming, GA.
Born on December 29, 1942, he was the son of Horace Willis Goodrum and Sarah Caldwell Goodrum of Cornelius, NC. After high school, he served in the NC National Guard out of Mooresville. He was active in the community and was a member of the Jaycee’s. His work ethic was prevalent through his work at Ford Tractor, then Crane Carrier, and finally Eaton Corporation until he retired in 2006. After retiring, he worked for Lazer Spot Trucking part-time for 10 more years.
He enjoyed his dogs, classic cars, watching NASCAR, and working in the yard. He also enjoyed being a Pop to his eight grandchildren and loved to spend time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his sister Barbara Ann Goodrum, his brother Clark Goodrum, and his wife of 51 years Jacqueline Lynn Riley Goodrum.
He is survived by son Christopher Eugene Goodrum (Kristi Goodrum) of Mt. Mourne, NC, son Dustin Willis Goodrum (Amy Goodrum) of Shelby, NC, daughter Melanie Goodrum Tremonti (Dennis Tremonti) of Cumming, GA and Holly Goodrum Stephan (Luke Stephan) of Cumming, GA. His grandchildren are
Abbey Goodrum, Kelby Goodrum, Colt Goodrum, Casey Goodrum, Ella Tremonti, Hunter Tremonti, Maddox Stephan, and Isla Stephan.
The family extends their sincerest appreciation to the wonderful staff of Inspire Hospice and Palliative Care for the compassionate, loving care they gave to him at home.
There will be a graveside service at Bethel Presbyterian Church Monday, May 18 at 10 am for family only. The service will be streamed online.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Humane Society of Forsyth County at 4440 Keith Bridge Rd, Cumming, GA 30041 or the American Cancer Society.
