Thomas Richard "TR" Hunter's Obituary
Thomas Richard “TR” Hunter, 77, of Huntersville, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, February 12, 2024 following an extended illness.
A native of Derita, TR was the husband of Alma Wallace Hunter, for almost 58 years, and the son of the late Thomas W. Hunter and Betty Hefner Hunter. TR was a North Mecklenburg High School graduate in the class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Air National Guard from 1965-1971. In his younger years he began assisting his father in the plumbing supply business, which later led him to branch off and form Hunter Tool Sales Inc. He later transitioned to working at Little Hardware. TR was a second generation member the Queen City Model A Club.
TR was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Ross Hunter, and sister, Karen Hunter White. Survivors include his wife, Alma Wallace Hunter, daughters, Amy Hunter Freeman (Jon), Kristi Elizabeth Hunter, granddaughters,
Courtney Freeman Williams (Lance), Taylor Lindsey Freeman (Jake), sisters, Mary Hunter Sherrow (Norm), Jan Hunter Poole (Chris), Carol Hunter Wilburn (Kevin), and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Prosperity Presbyterian Church (5533 PPC Drive Charlotte, NC 28269) with Pastor Bruce Brown officiating. Interment will follow the service at Prosperity Presbyterian Church’cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday, with the funeral following at 2:00pm.
