Thomas Joseph Baumgartner's Obituary
Thomas Joseph Baumgartner, 66, of Mooresville, NC passed away on January 1, 2017 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
Tom was born in Cincinnati, OH to Edwin and Morene Baumgartner on November 15, 1950. He was a graduate of Miami University and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Pizza Hut after 28 years but was most recently employed by Rite Aid. Tom was a devout member of St. Therese Catholic Church, serving as catechism educator. Tom shared his avid love of boating, fishing, baseball, golf and Skyline chili with friends and family alike. A devoted family man, Tom’s love and adoration was unwavering. His children and grandchildren continue to be his greatest pride and joy. Tom was a gracious host and generous friend, often entertaining with tales of Florida beaches, beer drinking, crawfish boils, and Mardi Gras parades. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and volunteer, Tom will be sorely missed by all.
Tom was preceded in death by Paula Baumgartner, Patricia Pritchard, Edwin (Rip) and Morene Baumgartner.
Tom is survived by his wife, Gina and his four children: Gabriel (Carla) Baumgartner, Ryan (Leella) Baumgartner, Allen Woodworth, and Marissa Baumgartner. Tom is survived by four siblings: Cathie Johnson, Carol (Ralph) White, Terrence (Carolyn) Baumgartner, and Donald (Nancy) Baumgartner and eight grandchildren: Skyler, Thomas, Julian, Kaylee, Ryan Jr., Matthew, Dylan, and Annaleigh. Tom leaves his memory with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive guests from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, January 6, 2017 at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday January 7, 2017 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, NC. In tribute to Tom: “Our friend, mentor and loved one”, a Word Service will be held concurrently at St. Mary Mother of the Church in Lafayette, LA at 10 am (CT).
