Dear Mikita Family and friends,
Tom told me whilst he was in his 50's that raw cabbage and potatoes lent themselves to longevity. He may have been onto something.
Aside from being an excellent pilot, employee, and human being, Tom exuded wisdom, honor and character.
Tom held himself to a MUCH higher standard than any moral, statute, or any other standard could. He had honor beyond limitations. As a former director whilst Lake Central Airlines was an employee owned airline, Tom was a corporate director. Tom had an unabiding love and respect for our company and judged fellow employees by their loyalty to their company and work ethic.
Joe Rahall had a formula for voting a pilot into the union. "If every pilot was like this pilot would we still have a company?" If the answer was yes then Joe would call for that person's admission into the union. Tom exceeded that standard a hundred times over.
Tom's work ethic was unparalleled, all the while being compassionate, pleasant, and considerate.
Tom NEVER had to back up to the pay window. He earned EVERY penny that he was ever paid and MUCH MORE.
I am blessed and honored to have known him, and if every one was like him the world would be a much better place.
GOD bless his soul, please forgive him his sins, and please receive him into your kingdom O'Lord . AMEN
