Thomas Perkins' Obituary
Thomas Cole Perkins, age 83, died on July 15, 2016, at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.. He was born on July 3, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a son of the late Leon Blair Perkins and Ruth Cole Perkins.
Tom is survived by his wife Priscilla Cole Perkins, their daughter Laura Catherine Perkins Davidson (Jack) of Hamden, CT, his granddaughter Priscilla Jane Davidson, his sisters-in-law, his brothers-in-law, and many much-loved nieces and nephews throughout the country. He was pre-deceased by his older brother Leon Blair Perkins, Jr. of Oklahoma City and his younger brother Charles Philip Perkins of Santa Monica, CA.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 3:00 PM, at Davidson College Presbyterian Church (DCPC). Following the service the family will receive friends in The DCPC Congregation House.
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Tom served in the active Navy and later retired from the Reserve with the rank of Commander. He was employed as an Investment Officer in the real estate and mortgage field for several financial organizations.
Tom was a life-long Presbyterian. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York, NY and the Georgetown Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC. As a member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church, he served on the Session, as the Treasurer of the Church and as the Chairman of the Stewardship, the Finance and the Endowment Fund Committees at different times.
More than anything Tom loved his God, his country, his family and friends, a view of the water, a good joke, a good steak, and a dry martini or two.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to the Endowment Fund of the Davidson College Presbyterian Church or the Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.
