Thomas Lamar Whitley's Obituary
Thomas "Sam" Lamar Whitley, 86, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
Mr. Whitley was born to the late Sally Alexander Whitley and Lester J. Whitley on April 4, 1932 in Union County, Monroe, NC. Sam was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Benning, GA.
Mr. Whitley was preceded in death by his brother, Craven Whitley of Monroe, NC, sister, Virginia Whitley Cooper of Charlotte, sister, Phyllis Precourt of NJ. Mr. Whitley is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clara Mason Whitley, son, Ronald Whitley, grandsons; Christopher Whitley of Charlotte, Jonathan Whitley of Mooresville, NC.
The funeral service will be held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 6440 Old Statesville Rd., Charlotte, NC 28269 Saturday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212.
