Thomas Arthur Varney's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Varney, a beloved father and friend, on June 5, 2026. Thomas was born on March 19, 1951, and through his 75 years, he touched many lives with his big heart, funny sense of humor, and ever-present smile.
Thomas was a man of simple pleasures, who found joy in the sweetness of life, be it from his favorite sweets or Chinese food. He cherished the rhythm and the honesty of 90's country and trucking tunes, frequently sharing his love for music with those around him.
A dedicated Boston sports fan, Thomas had an infectious enthusiasm for the Bruins, Red Sox, and Celtics. He enjoyed watching the games and was always ready to cheer his team on. When not watching sports, Thomas loved to escape to the golf course, where he could revel in the tranquility and challenges of the game.
Thomas' love for exploring never ceased, and his favorite vacation spot was Myrtle Beach. The serenity of the beach and the sparkling waves always brought a twinkle to his eyes, adding to the joy that made Thomas so unique.
Among the many lessons that Thomas shared, the principle that stood out was to always "put your best foot forward". This teaching will forever remind us of his positive spirit and approach to life.
He leaves behind his children, Laurie Goodheart and Michael Hudson, who will continue to honor their father's legacy by living their lives with the same kindness and humor that he exhibited. Thomas was predeceased by his brother, Edward Varney; his sister, Kathy Varney; and his parents, Kenneth Varney and Pauline Grenier.
Thomas' jovial spirit and warm heart will be missed by all who knew him. His laughter will echo in the hearts of his family and friends, and his lessons will continue to guide us. As we mourn the loss of a great man, let us celebrate the life he lived and the joy he brought into our world.
James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
