Thomas Olen Willis Jr.'s Obituary
Thomas Olen Willis, 76, of Denver, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Born on June 20, 1949, in Huntington Park, California, Tom was the son of the late Thomas Olen Willis, Sr. and Iva Lorraine (Law) Willis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Wayne Willis, and his sister, Cheryl Lorraine Willis.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa (Terri) Stephenson Willis; his daughter, Megan Willis; his daughter and son-in-law, Tobie and Lawrence DeWitt; his beloved grandchildren, Cooper and Cody DeWitt; his lifelong friend and “sister,” Vicki Dunbridge; and his cherished “sons,” Chris Scott, Jeff Scott, and Matt Scott.
A proud veteran, Tom honorably served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a tile setter and foreman. He took great pride in his work and was known for his remarkable craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and ability to build or repair just about anything.
Tom found joy in many of life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman and a devoted baseball fan, especially when it came to cheering on the Los Angeles Angels. He loved spending time outdoors, tending to his garden, and maintaining the perfect lawn. Whether working with his hands, casting a line, or watching a ballgame, Tom approached everything with dedication and enthusiasm.
Above all else, Tom treasured his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness, loyalty, and generosity touched the lives of many. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Tom’s legacy is one of hard work, service, friendship, and unwavering love for family. He will be remembered with affection and gratitude by all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 6:30 – 7:30pm, at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. A graveside service, with Military Honors, will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026, 10:00am, at Salisbury National Cemetery.
