Dear Sheryl and Family-Tony was a Buckeye through and through. He was an outstanding
teammate on our Undefeated Lacrosse Team in 1966 at Ohio State. An occasion such as this
triggers reflections on how Ohio State and more particularly Lacrosse at Ohio State brought Tony together with our team and shaped our lives.
As we consider the influence of Sports on our lives, we tend to think of values derived from Sports: Leadership, Discipline, Teamwork, and handling Defeat, and the possibility of a Sun setting and a life ending, and yet a new life beginning as the sunrise comes up on the other side as well, and Tony emerges from the scuffle for the ball cradling it ever so quickly and heading towards an opponents Goal.
It is this profound image I have of Tony at Midfield and his incredible competitiveness on the field and such a friendly sort off the field. I was truly looking forward to seeing him again next week, but guess now he will have to await my/ our arrivals on another plain
with the ultimate Referee calling the shots on goal. Thanks for sharing this sad news but in
a strange way it is likewise uplifting to know he is safe and loved by his teammates.
