Viola Norton Canipe's Obituary
Viola Norton Canipe, 95, of Harrisburg, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 in her home in Harrisburg North Carolina.
Born October 26, 1921 in Rockingham, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Ethel Norton. She married George “Parks” Canipe on October 28, 1938.
She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Lippard (Walter) of Jamestown NC, Cathy Eury of Harrisburg NC, and her son Ted Canipe of Troutman NC. She is the grandmother of Rene Cain, Ty Canipe, Lorie Rocque, Kim Haydt, Melanie Rathke, Shannon Eaves, and Skip Canipe. She is the Great Grandmother of Ben and Hannah Cain, Nicole, Allie and Caitlin Rathke, Natalie, Suzanna, and Tiffany Haydt, Taylor Canipe, Caleb Canipe, Carson and Shelby Eaves, and Isabella Rocque.
Viola was a resident of Charlotte NC since her teenage years. She loved to cook, to garden, to read the bible, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was the Matriarch of the Webb and Canipe families and was the oldest member of Independence Hill Baptist Church.
The visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and Memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM at Independence Hill Baptist Church located at 10220 Independence Hill Road, Huntersville, NC 28078 on November 6, 2016. The graveside service will follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
