Violet Washam's Obituary
Violet Elizabeth Jones Washam, 74, of Cornelius, died October 22, 2011 after a short illness. She was born in Huntersville on March 6, 1937 to Wiley and Maggie Jones. She retired after 30 years of service at BellSouth prior to joining her husband in business at Washam Optical. Violet was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, where she was a teacher in the kindergarten Sunday school class. She was active in the American Legion Unit 86 Ladies Auxiliary .
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John V. Washam, Jr.; her sister Dorothy Jones Stewart as well as an extended family and many dear friends.
Memorials may be made to the Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 19920 Bethel Church Rd., Cornelius, NC 28031.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Bethel Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 1-2PM prior to the service. Burial will be private.
