Virgil Chase Crump's Obituary
Mr. Virgil “Chase” Crump, 90, of Stanley, formerly of Charlotte, went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 22, 2023.
Chase was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a faithful member of Sunset Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, served on many committees and went on several mission trips. Chase was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Long Creek Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World and the Eastern Star. Chase donated multiple gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. He enjoyed yardwork, vegetable gardening, making stained glass and enjoyed collecting coins, plates and depression glass.
Mr. Crump was preceded in death by his sisters; Lois, Alice, Bernice; and brothers, Grover, David, Cicero, Herman and Lloyd.
Mr. Crump is survived by his wife of 71 years, Nancy, and their children; Martha, Jane (Gene), Terri (Jim), Mark, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Chase’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Sunset Road Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Road Baptist Church, 2317 Sunset Rd, Charlotte, NC 28216.
