Virginia Hypes' Obituary
Virginia Eberhart Hypes, 84, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord on Saturday,
February 13, 2016. She was born on April 30, 1931 in Petersburg, VA to the late Herman Eberhart and Georgia Reynolds. After spending much of her early life in York, PA, she moved to Charlotte where she and her late husband Chuck raised their four children. Virginia was a long time member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Charlotte and then Lake Norman Lutheran Church in Denver, NC. She served on the altar guild in both churches. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ginny spent her last years at Shad’s Landing in Charlotte, and the family would like to thank the kind staff for their love and care.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. “Chuck” Hypes, step-son, Donald Hypes and great-granddaughter, Rebecca Eudy.
Survivors include her son, Charles Hypes (Lisa) of Beech Mountain; daughters, Sharon Gibson (Bob) of Harrisburg, Linda Lewis of Rockwell, Pam James (Steve) of Huntersville, and Alice Hypes of Wilmington, DE; siblings, Bob Eberhart, Ron Eberhart and Dottie Cauthorn; grandchildren, Gina and Phil Eudy, Sam (Liz) and Ben (Danielle) James, and Zach and Ethan Hypes; as well as great-grandchildren, Tabitha, Vanessa, Henry and Violet; as well as her special friend Don.
Memorials may be made to Lake Norman Lutheran Church, 1445 Hwy. 16, Denver, NC 28037.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 16 in the chapel of James Funeral Home with burial to follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 prior to the service. Rev. Jeff Marquardt will officiate the service.
