Virginia "Corene" Lazenby's Obituary
Virginia Corene Lazenby, 90, of Charlotte passed away Tuesday March 24, 2026. She was born on March 16, 1936, in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Plato (Jack) and Virgie Conner.
Corene was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered in many other rolls. Always staying active, she enjoyed cooking, gambling, and working in her yard. She loved working in her many flower beds and vegetable garden the best.
In addition to her parents, Corene is preceded in death by her brothers Charles and Gerald Conner. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Clontz (spouse Shelley Clontz) of Terrell North Carolina and her son Darryl Lackey (spouse Misty Lackey) of Huntersville North Carolina. Her grandchildren are Amber and Brittany. Her great grandchildren are Ayden, Ashton, and Blakely-Ryker. Corene’s sisters are Janice and Louise.
The memorial service will be held Sunday, March 29, 2:00 pm at Oak Grove Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. A graveside service will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
