W. Lee Troup's Obituary
W. Lee Troup, 84, of Concord, NC died Friday, November 14, 2014 at his home.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Anita (Gaugler) Troup, his daughter and son-in-law Norma and Martin Downing of Concord; his son and daughter-in law, Calvin and Amy Troup of Allison Park, PA; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Born June 8, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of William Edgar and Odessa Pearl (Chenot) Troup.
In his early years, he worked for Continental Baking driving a Wonder Bread truck and served as a leader in the startup of a nationwide Christian ministry for boys and young men, Christian Service Brigade. He graduated from Kenmore High School and met his wife, Anita Gaugler, at Goss Memorial Church in Kenmore, where his father was the senior pastor, and they married after graduation from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois.
Mr. Troup served sixteen years in a professional leadership role for Christian Service Brigade. In 1969, he was appointed public relations director for Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and was instrumental in the college's emerging role in Christian higher education in the latter half of the twentieth century. In later years, he continued his public relations work for the Salvation Army in Pittsburgh, PA, and moved to Lancaster, PA, in 1987 to direct advancement efforts for Ambassadors for Christ, a ministry to Chinese university students studying in the United States.
Throughout his life, Mr. Troup professed and practiced faith in Jesus Christ. He worked as a lay leader in a number of churches, serving faithfully as an elder at Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Wheaton, Illinois; Christ Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; Westminster Presbyterian (PCA), Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Harvest Presbyterian (PCA), a congregation he helped launch in 2002. At the time of his death, he was serving as an elder emeritus with Providence Presbyterian (PCA), Concord, NC.

A memorial celebration service to praise God and honor the memory of W. Lee Troup will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 1:00 PM, at Providence Presbyterian Church, Concord, NC.
