Dear loved ones of Brooks,
We only had the privilege of knowing Brooks the last four years since my daughter and I moved to Lake Norman. In that time, we immediately felt his warm yet independent spirit. He welcomed us to the neighborhood and many times we had great conversations in the parking lot. My daughter took a special interest in him as she offered many times to help him take his trash to the dumpster for him. Each time he declined but asked her if she'd walk with him instead. She never shared what they talked about on their short walks, but she always came back with a smile. I came to know more of Brooks exciting life one day as we had lunch together at one of his favorite restaurants, K & W. Our restaurant in Cornelius had closed so we planned a day to go to the one in Statesville. The stories he shared and the jokes he delivered had all of us captivated and full of laughter. I'm so glad I came to know Brooks and We will all miss his presence in the neighborhood. Take care Brooks, I'll sleep a little better knowing you're up above watching over us.
With love,
Kristen Steele & Adriana Guarino
