Wanda Fairweather's Obituary
Wanda Annette Fairweather (née Arnold), aged 93, passed away on July 8, 2024, in Mooresville, NC. Born on August 16, 1930, in Janesville, Wisconsin, Wanda grew up to be a beloved figure in her community, known for her great wit and generous spirit.
A graduate of Mt Vernon High School, Alexandria, Virginia, Wanda embarked on a noteworthy career as a secretary in Prince William County Schools at Occoquan and Gar-Field High Schools. She played a pivotal role in advocating for higher salaries for non-teaching staff, significantly impacting her colleagues' lives. Later, she pursued a successful career in real estate in Florida, where she achieved the status of a million-dollar seller.
Wanda's faith played a significant role in her life, and she was a devoted member of Mt Zion Methodist Church in Cornelius, NC. Her hobbies included crochet, solving crossword puzzles, and following her favorite sports teams and athletes, including the Carolina Panthers and NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm and Florence Arnold; brothers, Lamont and Wayne Arnold; and sisters, Luree Padgett, Wava Lamb, Laverne Bateman, and Janice Sanders. She is survived by her loving family: daughter Lynda Prior and son-in-law David; son Stephen Fairweather and daughter-in-law Frances (née Anderson); granddaughters Tiffanie Smith and Samantha Grant; great-granddaughters Emily Smith and Sara Grant; and great-great-grandson Logan.
James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC, is assisting the family during this time. Wanda's life, marked by her joyous personality and enduring kindness, will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
