Wanda Hansil's Obituary
Wanda Johnson Hansil, 89, of Concord, formerly of Huntersville, died
Monday, April 12, 2021.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM Thursday, April 15 at James Funeral Home with burial following at First Baptist Church-Huntersville Cemetery. For those unable to attend in person, the funeral service will be livestreamed at: https://www.facebook.com/JamesFuneralHome/
Wanda graduated from Clearmont High School. She graduated from Western Carolina University where she received a B.S. and M.A. degrees.
After college Wanda served as a teacher in Knox County, Tennessee, Yancey County, Cumberland County and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
Wanda was an active volunteer in her community. She volunteered in area nursing homes, schools and was a hospice volunteer. At her church she was actively involved in its education and music ministries. At Taylor Glen Retirement Homes Wanda frequently played the piano for church services. After retirement Wanda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an incredible wife, mother, and friend who was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Everette and Monnie Johnson, her husband, John Walter Hansil and her son-in-law Michael Armstrong.
Surviving are her children Meg Armstrong, John Jr.(Lisa), Mary Greer (David) and grandchildren John Irvin(Amanda), Justin(Amanda), Bailey(Mandy), Julia(Ryan), Dustin, Brooke and great-grandchildren Charlotte, Brooks and Parker.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Huntersville or to a charity of your choice.
