Waylon Dean Wilson's Obituary
Waylon Dean Wilson, age 1, of Charlotte, passed away on December 31, 2025. He was born in Huntersville on September 18, 2024, the beloved son of Dawson and Shelby Wilson.
Waylon, affectionately known as “Way Way”, was a joyful, curious, and loving little boy who filled every room with light. He loved Mickey Mouse Clubhouse more than anything, along with Ms. Rachel, Super Simple Songs, and Sesame Street. Anything with wheels immediately caught his attention, and he was happiest when he was on the move.
Waylon enjoyed adventures with his family to the NC Zoo, the aquarium, the park, and Discovery Place Kids. He was learning sign language, proudly using the signs for “more” and “all done.” His growing vocabulary included “love you,” “mama,” “baba,” and most of all, “dada.”
He gave the very best hugs and endless kisses. He loved bath time, never fussed over brushing his teeth, and delighted in jumping, especially on the couch, and running around playing peek-a-boo. Waylon disliked shoes and anything on his feet, and loud noises like fireworks startled him, but nothing ever dampened his joyful spirit.
Being Waylon’s parents was the greatest blessing of Dawson and Shelby’s lives. He was their best friend, and their world was built around him. There will never be a second that he is not deeply missed. Waylon will forever be loved and carried in their hearts.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at James Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.
