Wilbur J. Blanchard's Obituary
Wilbur J. “Cookie” Blanchard, 73, of Concord , NC , formerly of Edison , NJ , passed away on September 20, 2011 at his home. He was born on September 8, 1938 in Perth Amboy , NJ and lived in the Edison area for most of his life. Mr. Blanchard attended Raritan Township Public Schools and graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1955 where he was the youngest member of the class. He also attended Newark State College for a short time.
After serving in the US Marine Corps in the Mediterranean and Caribbean areas, he joined Pepperidge Farms Bakeries in various sales and supervisory positions. He then became an independent franchise owner, building and selling several distributor franchises. He retired in 2001 after 39 years with Pepperidge Farms to spend quality time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marie Ogello Blanchard; daughter Gabrielle Carneglia and husband Michael of Concord and son, Christopher Blanchard and wife Michelle of Edison, NJ; brother Thomas Blanchard; and grandchildren, Anthony, Dominick, Gianna and Victoria Carneglia and Sarah, Christopher Jr. and Tessa Blanchard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charlotte, 1420 E 7th Street Charlotte , NC 28204 .
A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 Saturday, September 24, 2011 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Road, Huntersville, NC. Burial will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens . The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at St. Mark Catholic Church.
