William "Bill" Fite Auten's Obituary
William “Bill” Fite Auten, 85 of Huntersville died January 17, 2019. He was born in Mecklenburg County on July 3, 1933 to the late Arthur and Hettie Auten. He served in the US Army and as postmaster in Huntersville for 20 years. He was known for his extravagant Christmas display on Hillcrest Drive.
Survivors include his son Bill Auten of Atlanta; daughter Stephanie Lawson and husband Greg of Murfreesboro, TN; long-time companion Linda Fite and grandchildren, Christopher Lawson and Hannah Fite; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Charlotte, 7845 Little Ave., Charlotte, NC 28226.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, January 21 in the chapel of James Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Huntersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-2 PM prior.
