William "Bill" Michael Broadway Jr.'s Obituary
William “Bill” Michael Broadway, Jr., 47, of Huntersville, NC, went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2025. He was born in Ann Arbor, MI, on March 21, 1978, to William Michael Broadway, Sr. and Linda Putnam Broadway.
Bill grew up in Westland, MI, and later moved to Highland, where he graduated from Milford High School. He went on to earn his degree from Western Michigan University. Bill began his career as a high school business and computer teacher in Holly, MI, where he taught for nine years. Beloved by his students and colleagues, he was known as a favorite teacher who made a lasting impact. During that time, he also coached several sports, sharing his love of teamwork and competition with countless young people.
Answering a lifelong calling to serve, Bill attended the police academy in Michigan before moving to North Carolina, where he completed a second academy and was sworn in as a Charlotte police officer in 2016. After five years in Charlotte, Bill followed his heart to serve closer to home, joining the Huntersville Police Department in 2022. His dedication to protecting and caring for his community was an extension of the way he lived his entire life—with courage, integrity, and compassion.
Bill’s faith in Jesus was the foundation of his life. He loved the Lord deeply and lived out his beliefs with strength, humility, and kindness. He was a caring and supportive husband, a devoted and proud father, and a loyal son, brother, and friend.
A lifelong sports fan, Bill loved cheering for Michigan football, the Detroit Tigers, and the Lions. He also lived a healthy lifestyle, embracing both exercise and nutrition with the same determination and strong work ethic that defined every area of his life.
Those who knew Bill will remember his sense of humor, his kind heart, and his unwavering loyalty. He was determined, funny, hardworking, and always ready to help others. Above all, he loved being a husband to Sarah and a father to Declan—the roles he cherished most.
Bill is survived by his parents, William Sr. and Linda Broadway; his wife, Sarah Coombs Broadway; his son, Declan; and his sister, Sarah Jakeway and her husband Brian. He was a beloved uncle to eight nieces and nephews and is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his cherished in-laws, who loved him as their own.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, at Lake Forest Church in Huntersville, with visitation to follow.
