William "Billy" Howard Mullis' Obituary
William Howard Mullis, affectionately known as "Billy," 71, of York, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Born on August 17, 1954, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Billy was the son of the late Glenn Jenkins and Retha Simpson Mullis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved stepson, Joseph Carter.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Angel Mullis; daughter, Lindsey Mullis; son and daughter-in-law, William "Billy" Mullis and Shannon Kimbrell Mullis; grandchildren, Shannon Bradshaw (CiCi), Nicholas Mullis, Carly Grubel, Lilly Mullis, Lucas Mullis, Ava Carter, and Nora Carter; daughter-in-law, Deana Carter; mother-in-law, Shirley Angel; sister-in-law, Brenda Blevins; nephew, Brandon Blevins; two sisters; one brother; and his faithful canine companion, Roy.
Billy was a hardworking man whose dedication to his work was evident throughout his life. Despite his strong work ethic, he always made time for the people he loved most. He cherished family vacations to the beach and the mountains, creating treasured memories with his children that they will carry with them forever.
A devoted father and grandfather, Billy found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He especially loved being surrounded by his children and grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and life's special moments. He had a remarkable talent for gardening and working with flowers, seemingly able to grow anything he planted. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time with friends, making memories that lasted a lifetime.
Billy had a deep love for music and dancing, and some of his most cherished moments were spent dancing with his daughter. Above all, he was a man of unwavering faith who loved Jesus wholeheartedly. Even through illness and life's challenges, he remained steadfast in his faith, serving as an inspiration to those around him.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place following the service at Hillcrest Gardens in Mount Holly.
Billy's love, faith, kindness, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
