William "Bill" Henderson's Obituary
Mr. William Hugh Henderson, 67, of Iron Station, North Carolina passed away Friday, August 17th after battling brain cancer. William “Bill” was a native of Huntersville, North Carolina. He was a retired Project Manager for AT&T. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. He also loved meeting his car buddies for breakfast at Chick-Fil-A in Denver, golfing, rebuilding old cars, gardening, and volunteering. He took pleasure in helping friends and neighbors throughout his life. He could always be counted on to give back to his community. Bill served as a coach for numerous sports teams throughout his life. He loved helping young players learn the game, but more importantly teaching kids about teamwork and perseverance. He also served as the Master of the Long Creek Masonic Lodge in 1995. Bill also had a passion for sharing his love of Jesus with others. He worked with Room in the Inn, Prison Ministry, he taught 2nd and 3rd grade Sunday School, and participated in multiple mission trips (Nicaragua, Honduras, Belize, and Africa) to spread God’s love. Bill will be remembered for the love he showed his family, friends and his community.
Bill was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Polly Henderson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Cathy Henderson and their daughters; Aubrey Kennedy (Walt) of Charlotte, NC, Laura Seagle (Jake) of Denver, NC, and Katie Henderson of Denver, NC, grandchildren; Alexus, Quinn, Ben, Katelyn, Lilly and Ava, great grandchild; Skyla his “therapy baby”. Bill is survived by his brother Mike Henderson (Penni) of Fayetteville, NC and his sister Lisa Hilton (Alan) of Concord, NC. He is also survived by numerous cousins and nephews with whom he loved dearly.
Bill’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 4pm at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Huntersville, North Carolina. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
