William Swift's Obituary
William Swift, 72, of Huntersville, NC passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born on December 4,1953 in Queens, NY. He is preceded in death by his parents, the late William and Dorothy Swift, and by his late brother, Louis Swift.
He is survived by his beloved family, who will continue to honor his legacy and cherish the many memories they shared. Survivors include his devoted wife of 40 years, Lori Swift; sons, Adam (Andrea) of Durham, NC, Billy (Dinah) of Huntersville, NC and Steven (Charly) of Denver, NC; sister, Liz Duda and grandchildren Luca, Lina, Nico, Will, Ellie, and Brooklyn.
William built a successful career in information technology, where he was known for his dedication, intelligence, and strong work ethic. Outside of his profession, he had a deep love for sports and was an avid softball player, always enjoying time on the field and the comradery of his teammates. As a talented stained glass artist, William held a creative spirit and took great pride in his work. He created pieces which will be cherished for years to come.
Above all, William loved spending time with his family who meant everything to him. His kindness, love, and unwavering faith will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made to Via Health Partners Hospice, Angels and Sparrows, or Compassion International.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, April 9th at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. A reception will follow in the James Funeral Home Community Room.
