William Young's Obituary
William H. “Will” Young, 92, passed away at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville on February 10, 2017. A longtime resident of Charlotte and Mooresville, he had recently moved to Denver, NC. Born January 1, 1925 in Spencer, NC, he was the son of Gray Marshall and Sarah Maude Young. He was a member of Mt. Zion U.M.C. in Cornelius and a member of the Don Bridger Sunday School Class. Will served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was employed by Southern Engineering Co. and retired from Duke Energy in 1990. Will was a member of the Cowans Ford Country Club for 40 years He enjoyed golfing, dancing and fishing.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn Hall Young; daughter, Cheryl Bruton; son, Kenneth Young (wife Jennie); granddaughters, April Bruton, Elaina Young; Mackenzi Young; grandson, Jason Young and 3 great-grandchildren, Savannah, Haley and Jason Spencer.
A celebration of his life will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church (19600 Zion Ave. Cornelius, NC) at 1:00 PM Friday, February 17. The family will receive friends at a reception in the Family Life Center following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion U.M.C. or Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Dr. Huntersville, NC 28078.
