Willis Charles Hughes, III, 73, of Catawba, NC died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Churchill Assisted Living in Mooresville, NC. He was born on March 26, 1940 in Waycross, GA and was the son of the late Willis Charles Hughes, Jr. and Read Obituary
Charles Hughes was a friend, neighbor and friend of mine. He was employed as a medical examiner in Charlotte and I had a great deal of respect for him. He was always very willing to help us in any situation. I would like to have a neighbor like that again.
Charles was the first Coroner/Medical Examiner Investigator in this county, and set a high standard for all who have followed. Charles displayed remarkable capability in all aspects of the field, over decades of hard work, always with a kind spirit. He is missed as a great friend and co-worker.
I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3,4 states “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away”. Charles was the consummate professional, who took the time to young Officers figuratively by the hand and with a high level of patience, explained the intricacies of Homicide investigation from the forensic viewpoint.
