Wilma D. "Nannie" Church's Obituary
Mrs. Wilma D. Church, 87, of Mooresville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Wilma, affectionately known by family and friends as “Nannie”, was a member of Grace Covenant Church and also attended Abundant Life Mooresville Foursquare Church. She was a retired seamstress and made wedding gowns and clothing for her family. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking and baking, collected baby dolls and enjoyed Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune (or Spin A Wheel as she liked to call it).
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell Edwin DeVinney and Lucy Mae Cooper Devinney, her husband, Robert Charles Church, sister, Sue Ledford, and brother, Larry DeVinney.
Mrs. Church is survived by her daughter, Gale Fox and husband, Larry, son, David Church and wife, Amber, grandchildren; Melodie Smith and husband, Clint, Amanda Riter and husband, Matt, Amy Canoy and husband, Junior, Tim Fox and wife, Megan, 9 great-grandchildren; Nealy, Coy, Kaylah, Mason, Emigale, Katie, Ethan, Carson and Wyatt, sister, Janie Nestor and husband, Frank, brother, Eddie DeVinney and wife, Cheryl and many other loving family members.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Grace Covenant Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Committal services will follow at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Covenant Church, 17301 Statesville Rd., Cornelius, NC 28031 and to Abundant Life Mooresville Foursquare Church, 119 Foursquare Rd., Mooresville, NC 28115.
