Yvonne Bost Byers' Obituary
Yvonne Bost Byers, 98, of Davidson, NC passed on to her heavenly home Sunday, September 28, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was the eldest daughter of John M. Bost and Norma White Bost and was born at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte on July 24, 1927. As the oldest of five brothers and sisters, Yvonne grew up in Cornelius attending Cornelius School. She married her high school sweetheart, Edgar Dean Byers (Edd) in May 1945. Following his military service and graduating from Union Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, they began their ministry in the Presbyterian Church serving churches in Goldsboro, North Carolina, Effingham, South Carolina, Hinesville, Georgia and Raleigh, North Carolina. She returned home to the Lake Norman area in 1998 to be with family and was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Mount Zion Methodist Church and most recently, at Davidson College Presbyterian Church. Among her countless church activities, she was active in Presbyterian Women and received the lifetime membership award and served many with her caring spirit and support through Stephen Ministry. She was a devout and faithful Christian her whole life.
Yvonne was the proud matriarch of the Bost Family. She is survived by two brothers Ed Bost and Joe Bost of Cornelius, NC, sister Jane Putnam of Huntersville, NC and sister-in-law Billie Bost of Davidson, NC; daughter Susan Manning of Davidson, NC, son Dean Byers (Elizabeth) of Edenton, NC and son-in-law Larry Reynolds of Rustburg, VA; her 5 grandchildren Ashley Gower (Bobby) of Clayton, NC, Tiffany Fremder (Michael) of Apex, NC, Brittany Kicklighter (Adam) of Harrisburg, NC, Lee Reynolds (Tiffany) of Kingsport, TN and Andrew Reynolds of Crozet, VA; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, John Bost and Norma Bost, her husband Rev. Edd Byers, her brother John Bost and her daughter Jane Reynolds. Yvonne cherished her time with extended family on Lake Norman, enjoyed weekly bridge games with her bridge ladies, and looked forward to her annual family beach trips at Hilton Head, SC and Sunset Beach, NC.
The family would like to give their sincere thanks to the beloved staff from Assisted Living at The Pines at Davidson and the VIA Hospice team, for their loving care and support.
A celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2pm at Davidson College Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Davidson College Presbyterian Church or The Pines at Davidson Employees Appreciation Fund.
