Mr. Carroll Purcell, age 57, of Cornelius, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at his home by the shores of his beloved Lake Norman after a valiant battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family a Read Obituary
I feel very fortunate to have known Carroll for the past 37 years. We first met at Callaway Gardens and experienced many wonderful days on and off the tennis court together. Carroll possessed a great sense of humor and talent at telling engaging stories. When traveling through Charlotte, it was always part of our agenda to visit Carroll. He was an inviting and generous host. Never had much in the refrigerator, but you could rely on him having plenty of Salmon fillets in the freezer from his fishing trips to Alaska. And what an accomplished guy. We could only dream of visiting a tenth of the places he marked with pins on his global map. I miss our Charlotte visits with Carroll already. I’m sorry for your loss. I haven’t seen Carroll since he left Calhoun. I tried to search for his contact info but I could never come up with anything. I hate so much to hear this. Prayers for his family.

When friends become family, holding each other up....
Carroll became family to us, when he and other UPS pilots stayed at our church in Louisville. I'd be working in my office upstairs and Carroll would come running up the stairs, yanking his tie off, flinging his hat, and as he passed by my office door he's smile and shout, "Hey mom, I'm home". We love you Carroll, always and forever.
Carroll was my mentor in recovery. We shared many good conversations in my short time at UPS. I always enjoyed running into him in the sort in the middle of the night.
