On behalf of the Huntersville Fire Department and extended Huntersville Fire Department Family, I’d like to thank-you for allowing us to visit with your sweet little boy (and essentially take over the entire neighborhood – sorry about that) on February 8th.
We stated on that day when we swore Carter in as an Honorary Firefighter; that he was officially part of the firefighter brotherhood. Hoa, Ann and Drew you are also part of that brotherhood and part of our extended family. The brotherhood bond is always there and I am certain that Carter is hanging out with some real hero firefighters in heaven right now. In the fire service we NEVER leave anyone behind, so he was just passed off to the heroes up above. We feel certain that they were waiting for him when he arrived on that Thursday afternoon.
You may recall that on February 8 we arrived with many firemen – you may have noticed that many of those firemen brought their families with them as well. Those firemen and family members are here for you and always will be. Expect to see us again, frequently and in the very near future. Drew has over 80 big brothers and sisters now and he’s welcome to hang with us at anytime.
As the son of one of our firefighters said to his parents "don't be sad...Carter will get to play with Jesus…he is so lucky." We feel slightly comforted knowing that Carter is now laughing, smiling, playing and pain free in heaven.
I’ll leave you with one saying in the fire service, it’s only 3 letters but it means much more. RFB – that stands for Remember Fallen Brothers. We will NEVER forget Carter and his brave fight to stay well.
Honorary FF Carter Kevin Dang, rest in peace young brother – we have the watch from here.
