Carter Kevin Dang's Obituary
Carter Kevin Dang, age 3 1/2, of Huntersville, North Carolina, died on February 27, 2014 in the arms of his loving family at his home. He was born on April 8, 2010 in Huntersville to Hao Chi Dang and Ann Marie Dang. Carter is survived by his big brother Drew and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Tuong and Nu Dang and Mr. and Mrs. Willy and Irene Verbrugghe.
Carter Dang was a sweet and loving boy! He was a happy baby and at the age of 19 months, he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, stage 4, high risk cancer on 11/11/11. He fought hard with such grace and strength. Everyone who met him fell instantly in love with Carter and even through all the chemo, surgeries, radiation, stem cell transplants and clinical trials, Carter always had a smile! He taught us all to love more and live everyday to the fullest!
Carter loved playing doctor (with real medical supplies), loved firetrucks, helicopters, garbage trucks, cleaning machines and playing outside! He had a great love of dogs and animals! And a great love of music!! He loved his brother and being silly together!
Carter's family would like to thank Novant Hemby Children's hospital and the Blume Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic and Levine Children's Hospital and Levine's Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center for the excellent care that they provided Carter. The family would also like to thank Hometown Heroes for their friendship and help; MAke-A-Wish for providing Carter so many smiles with his wish of a little black dog ; and the Huntersville and Cornelius fire and police department for bringing the community together and showing Carter and Drew so much love.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cookies for Kids Cancer, 31 Hoffman's Crossing rd. Califon, NJ 07830 or St Baldrick's Foundation, 1333 South Mayflower Av. Suite 400, Monrovia, CA 91016, both of which help raise money for pediatric cancer.
