Reverend Charles Guy's Obituary
Reverend Charles Guy, 80, of Concord, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
Charles was a native of Spindale, NC, and served as a United Methodist minister from 1975 until his retirement in 2013. If it is true that there are preachers and then there are pastors, he truly was the latter. Being with his parishioners brought him great joy. He had the gift of making anyone he was talking to feel that they were the most important person in the world; and to him, at that moment, they were. Although many of his last years before retirement were spent in a wheelchair, he never allowed it to interfere with his ministering to others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tyson and Jeanette Guy.
Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Becky Guy, their children Adina Angel (Theodore) of Springboro, OH, and Kristy Wildman (Scott) of Huntersville, NC; three grandchildren, Marc (Lauren), Ali, and Anna; and one great-grandchild, Katie.
At his request, there will be no memorial service, as he believed we each preach our own funeral while we are alive. However, the family will gather on March 28 from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Moss Creek Village clubhouse for any who would like to visit with them and express condolences. The clubhouse is located at 9505 Moss Plantation Avenue, NW, in Concord.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cooperative Christian Ministries, 246 Country Club Drive NE, Concord, NC 28025; or Ada Jenkins Center, 212 Gamble Street, Davidson, NC 28036.
