My dear cousin how I miss you
love,
Lina Rose
I'm so sorry to hear of Skip's passing last year, and sorry I'm just now learning of this. I worked with Skip at Davis & Weight in the early 2000s, and while we lost touch a long time ago, I have great memories of the many conversations we had at the racetrack in those two years we worked together. Skip was a great man, and I was also blessed to meet Sharon in that time. We are praying for your family and pray that his legacy lives on.
Skip is my nephew. He had family that loved him that didn’t all live in BoonesMill. I kept in touch with Skip because he knew how much I loved him. I was 12 when he was born. His father was my brother and he was 12 years older than me. Skip and Scott were both loved by his father’s family and his mother’s family. I was raising my two sons when Skip moved to North Carolina and I contacted him each year and invited him to our family party. He usually said that he was going to West Virginia after Christmas and they liked to be home on Christmas morning because his son, Seth, should be home on Christmas day. I understood. Skip was a good man and my heart breaks for his mother. She lost her husband and both of her sons. I hadn’t heard from Skip for a while. However, he kept coming to mind these last few weeks. My husband is recovering from an accident, so I have been very busy. This morning, I decided to get in touch and instead, I found his obituary. My hope is that he been reunited with his father and his brother. Love you Skip until we meet again.❤️
I met Skip in junior high. He came up to me and said “your my cousin. Our grandfathers are brothers “ I went home and asked mom and she said yes, I guess you are. We developed a friendship that lasted until the family moved to Salem. Fondly remember some time of running through the the creek and the hollers of Boones Mill when we were young. Skip was always fun to be with. I regret that we drifted apart. Sad to learn that he has passed. Hope that he lived his dream. He will be missed. RIP Mr. Eyler. You were a special person. Thoughts and prayers to the family.
Sharon and Seth,
Skip was one of the most wonderful human beings I ever had the privilege of knowing. He was kind to the people who entered his life. He reminded me so much of his maternal grandmother, "Granny Bird". We pray for peace and comfort for Sharon, Seth, Kay, and Don. I always treasured him as a nephew, and cousin to my daughter and granddaughter, whom he lovingly called "Lina Rose". She loved the books he sent especially, The Boxcar Children, a favorite to both of them. Not to forget the cards, letters, pictures, and many phone calls they exchanged. They had a profound effect on each others lives. We will cherish you, the memories, and positive role you had in our lives. Rest in peace Skip. You are the "NASCAR WINNER!"
Love, Lina Rose, Lacey, and Gina James ❤️
Sharon and Seth,
I just wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I was stunned to learn of Skips passing. He grew up with my boys back in Virginia and even worked for my brothers and me. I have so many memories and tales I could share. I remember him coming in to the office on the car lot all excited and asking "Pops" what is the best thing that could ever happen to you, then proceeded to tell me that he had been offered a job with MM racing. He was so excited and with that move he just took off and loved what he did. Every time we talked he spoke of you both and was so proud of Seth's accomplishments. I am truly going to miss our conversations. He was a fine man and I will cherish all those memories. May you find comfort in the days ahead through your faith, family, and friends.
