Clyde "Skip" Elyer, III's Obituary
Clyde E. “Skip” Eyler III, 57, of Huntersville, NC passed away Saturday June 19, 2021 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. Born and raised in the Roanoke Salem area, he followed his dream of NASCAR to Charlotte NC where he worked for numerous teams throughout his 32-year career. Probably his proudest moments were winning the Brickyard 400 with the Ricky Rudd team and serving as Crew Chief on the John Deere team for Roush Racing.
He was preceded in death by his father Clyde E. Eyler Jr. and his brother Scott Eyler.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Sharon Eyler of Huntersville, NC; his son Seth Eyler of the home; his mother Kay Fitzgerald and stepfather Don Fitzgerald of Boones Mill, VA; his stepbrother and stepsister and a close extended family in the Boones Mill community as well as his many friends in the NASCAR community.
In keeping with his wishes, Skip has been cremated and there will be no service.
Rest in peace Skip as you’ve seen that checkered flag drop on the final race.
