Daniel McAlary's Obituary
Daniel A. McAlary, 73, of Cornelius died April 26, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 29, 1947 in Derry, Ireland to the late Daniel and Rose Ella McAlary.
Daniel immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of seven. He grew up in Philadelphia, where he met his loving wife, Susan, at the age of 18. Daniel and Susan celebrated 49 years of marriage and raised two children together, Jonathan and Jennifer. Daniel was the proud Pop Pop of Leah and Ryan Canosa, who he cherished spending time with. Daniel loved boating and fishing and spent many of his best days on the water. He also became a self-proclaimed “farmer” after moving to North Carolina and enjoyed tending to his fruit and vegetable gardens.
Daniel proudly served the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Daniel was a master carpenter, a member of the Philadelphia Carpenters Union and an Honorary Member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, having completed 50 years of continuous membership of the organization.
Survivors include his wife Susan; son Jonathan of Huntersville; daughter, Jennifer Canosa and husband Christopher of Huntersville; grandchildren, Ryan and Leah; and siblings, Yvonne, Jackie, Kathy and Brian.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a graveside ceremony, Friday, April 30th at 10:00AM at Northlake Memorial Gardens in Huntersville A memorial service will also be held in Cherry Hill, New Jersey at a later date.
