David George Vail, age 72, peacefully passed away at home on Monday, Januray 16th, 2017, after a hard battle with cancer. He was born on July 31st, 1944 in Salsbury, Maryland to is father, George Vail and mother Lorraine Furcht. Read Obituary
David and I were in school together at Morningside College. He was a really good guy and we enjoyed many fun times together. A couple of years ago I tried to reach out to him to renew our friendship. Now I know that he'd already passed away. I'm saddened by the loss.

We well remember the early days of Rec ball with both Courtney and Matt -- and David's coaching both from the bench -- and from the stands! It was always great competition and fun.
David clearly had a spirit and love of life that served him and you very well.

My condolences on the passing of David. I always thought the world of him and came to realize after the first few meetings with him that he always challenged me to be a better person. He is the type of person who will truly be missed because he was so rare to come across. I treasure my memories of him and wish I had been able to see him more once you two children (who he loved more than life itself) had grown out of the rec ball years.
I hate that he had such a devastating disease shorten his life, but I will say that he lived more in his 72 years than most live in 100. I will always be grateful that I was able to have known him.
