Donald Holloman's Obituary
Donald Parker Holloman, 81 of Cornelius died November 2, 2020. He was born on March 20, 1939 in Virginia to the late Herman Parker Holloman and Lucille Spillman Worrell. He graduated from Norview High in 1959 and went on to serve in the US Marines. After serving in the Marine Corps, Donald started working as an aircraft mechanic for Piedmont Airlines. He bought his 1st airplane in 1959. He used this airplane to earn his commercial and instrument licenses so he could fulfill his lifetime dream of becoming a pilot. He later donated this airplane to the NC Aviation Museum in Greenville, NC. Donald went on to enjoy a 30 year career as a commercial airline pilot flying for both Piedmont Airlines and later US Air. During his airline career he also owned a BBQ restaurant in Virginia.
Donald enjoyed woodworking and learning about the Bible. His favorite activity was being a Pawpaw to his numerous children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Tina Holloman; son, David Holloman and wife Colleen; daughter, Nikki Turpin; brother Wayne and wife Sally; grandchildren, Sloan, Sutton, Dave, Steven, and Bobby; brother Wayne Holloman (Sally); great-granddaughter, Daisy. Step children and grandchildren include: John Rogers Ferguson (Marybeth); Children Elizabeth(Alex Prytyskach), Sara Lilly (Nick), John Rogers (Caroline) Dot Ferguson Hilton (Joe), Matthew, Katherine ( Patrick Sullivan), Charlotte Ferguson Neal (Jay), William, Rachel (Tommy Green), Wesley.
His daughter Debra Lynn Holloman preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to Novant Hospice.
A private funeral service will be held at 2PM Friday, November 6 at James Funeral Home and burial at Northlake Memorial Gardens to follow. The funeral will be live-streamed on the funeral home Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/JamesFuneralHome
