Don is a good friend who I have known since grammar school. I remember the whiffle ball games in his driveway on Savit place in Union, the football games in the snow in his backyard. Even in these backyard games you could see that Don had talent to excel. These are memories I still cherish.
After taking a vacation in Florida Don and I entered the Army together, we didn’t see each other again until our 2-year tours were completed. Both of us did go to Vietnam as did many of our friends. We were all blessed to have survived the war and came home to start our lives. Don and I worked together for a couple of years before our lives took different paths. I lost touch with him for several years but we did reconnect and have been in touch since then.
Don was vey good at keeping all his friends together by arranging lunch at Galloping Hill Inn, five points Union. This is where we hung out with our friends from high school.
These are some of the memories I will always remember with Don.
Rest in Peace Don
Your friend always, Tony.
