Donald Ross Stout's Obituary
Donald Ross Stout Sr., 66, of Cornelius, left this life peacefully on July 23, 2011 at home surrounded by family and friends. Don fought Cancer with a vengeance since 2001. Don was born on New Years Day in Chicago, Illinois in 1945. He was the son of the late Margaret G. Stout and Norman P. Stout.
Don and his wife would have celebrated their 41st anniversary on August 8th. They moved from NY to Charlotte in 1974 and raised their 3 children here. Don worked and retired from Haverty Furniture. He coached Select Soccer boys and girls for Park Sharon Tornadoes, was the most avid sports fan, attending over the years a World Series game, Super Bowl game, and Final Four games. He did anything he could for UNCC basketball, softball, baseball, soccer - men and women - and would have been a number 1 fan of UNCC football. Don touched everyone he met with his friendliness, sense of humor and kind heart. He and Diane shared a love of music and saw countless concerts including Elvis, Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash and countless others, besides attending Merlefest for the last 12 years.
Don is survived by his lover and best friend Diane Schadt Stout, his son and best buddy DJ Stout, beloved daughters Tara Stout and Robyn Stout Sheridan and her husband Michael. He was the best grandpa to Caila, Dillon, Ciera, Connor and Della Mae.
He traveled anywhere and everywhere to watch his grandchildren play baseball, basketball, flag football and soccer.
Thank you to CMC Northeast, Dr. Turner and staff, Lake Norman Hospice for taking such good care of him during this battle. Thank you to our family and friends for the present of their presence at our home in his last days. All he wanted at the end was to have an open door for his family and friends, and he had everything he wished for except the wish of not leaving us.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in his name to Hospice of Lake Norman, 705 Griffith St., Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 26th at 11am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Suther Road in Charlotte.
Don: "The road goes on forever and the party never ends."
