George Murrow's Obituary
George Murrow of Mooresville died August 28, 2014. He was 28 years old. Growing up, George was a Boy Scout in Troop 173 and played soccer. George graduated from Lake Norman High School in 2004. He went on to UNC Chapel Hill where he majored in Biology and graduated in 2008. While at UNC he conducted research in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. George was very passionate about cancer research and was published several times as a research contributor. While at UNC, George was a member of the Club Rowing Team. Throughout his life, he was an avid lover of the outdoors. During the winter months he enjoyed mountaineering and snowboarding and in the summer he spent his time wakeboarding, camping, rock climbing and biking. He was an explorer year round. George was a very caring individual and his inherent compassion for people shined brightly to all who knew him.
George loved the Lord and went on numerous mission trips to the Appalachian area with his church, Lakeside Fellowship Presbyterian. George loved his family very much and was blessed with many good friends. George’s death was untimely and he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his father George “Buddy” Murrow; mother, Harriet Lamar Avery; and brother Brandon Avery Brooks of Portland, OR.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6 at Davidson United Methodist Church with Rev. Jody Seymour officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
