Sandra and Stan, My husband Peter and I served as pastor and Christian education director at Elma United Methodist church while Gerda and Jesse were active there. What a dear couple, with a heart to serve God and neighbor. I still wear one of her knit caps during winter months. We shared in Bible study, United Methodist Women and worship. I have told the story she shared about her mom inviting children to see her nativity’s and share the story of Christ’s birth, numerous times.
I-will remember Gerda’s servant heart, her laughter, her unconditional love. It was a joy and honor to share our story of faith and life together for nearly 18 years. What an honor to have known Gerda. I loved being in her wise and humble presence.
God bless and keep her! May God hold you closely in your time of loss.
