Jerry Hinson's Obituary
Jerry Dean Hinson, 86, of Huntersville passed away at peace on September 22, 2024 at Novant Health Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 17, 1938 in Mooresville, NC to the late George Avery Hinson and Eula Mae Hinson. He graduated from Mooresville High School, served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He loved attending the ships reunions. He was a member of Williams Masonic Lodge #176 of Cornelius, Charlotte Scottish Rites, and Charlotte Oasis Temple. Jerry was a longtime member of Shearer Presbyterian Church.
He was never happier than when he was watching the Braves and the Panthers games. Although, he loved watching sports, his greatest passion was saved for his Lord, his family, and his many longtime friends; especially his buddy Tom Doss of Chula Vista, California. Also, to miss him are his feline buddies, Smokey and The Bandit.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Annette Martin Hinson of Huntersville; sons, B.J. Hinson (Kelly) of Mooresville, Jeff of the home; and grandson, Jake of Huntersville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, niece and nephew.
The funeral service will be held at 3pm Sunday, September 29th at Shearer Presbyterian Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30 to 3:00 prior at the church.
