Jimmy Marcus' Obituary
Jimmy Wayne Marcus, 65, passed away peacefully at home under the devoted care of his loving wife and Hospice on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
Born June 15, 1959, in Birmingham, Alabama, Jimmy was the son of the late Marinell Smith Marcus and the late Oran Wayne Marcus. They moved to Charlotte in 1969 where he attended Bruns Avenue Elementary, Quail Hollow Junior High and South Mecklenburg High School. After high school he went into the United States Navy where he studied to be a machinist and spent many years in tool and die shops around the area.
In 1998, he met the love of his life, Diana Waynick Marcus. Although they grew up side by side throughout their childhood, it wasn’t until they reunited after their 20-year high school reunion that they fell in love. Jimmy not only loved Diana, but also her two daughters Jessica and Melissa Carter. You couldn’t talk to Jimmy for more than a minute without him mentioning how amazing his grandbabies are! Sophia, Stella and Ivy were the shining light in his eyes. Jimmy was a man that loved his family. He made regular phone calls to his siblings, Andrew Marcus, Bobbie Marcus Tatar and Rachel Marcus Rodden to fill them in on the latest happenings. He never hung up without saying, “I love you” and he meant it from the bottom of his heart. Jimmy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he loved so much and never let them walk past without a poke or a noogie.
Jimmy could be described in southern terms as “a mess”! He was a jokester and back in the day, Jimmy and his neighborhood gang could stir up some trouble! He was the life of the party! After Diana got him settled down, you could find Jimmy on the screened in porch with their many pups over the years. He will be especially missed by Jody and Wally, their latest rescues and his companions as his health declined. To say the least, Jimmy will be missed. His passing leaves many broken hearts, but they are comforted by knowing that he is well once again.
A service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held on Sunday, October 20, 1:00 PM at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, 10520 Arahova Drive. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Wylie Children’s Charity, or You and Me Furever, a local dog rescue organization.
James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
