When playing Mahjong & I’d make a mistake, I’d say “piffle”. In Joan’s direct way she said, what the heck does piffle mean? I told her it was my way of saying %x&/“@ when annoyed at myself. After that everytime I’d say piffle, she’d smile at me… it was our thing. I’ve not said piffle in months… not sure when I’ll say it again.
A good memory, miss you Joan.
Joan was a wonderful friend and I’m so glad our paths crossed. I’ll always remember our MahJongg games, bowling, Flair luncheons and of course our beach trips with our MJ group. Joan will be missed by many.

My dear sister Joan. My closest time with them was mostly in the 60's and 70's. My parents would throw grand parties on " the playroom". People dancing, smoking, laughing, drinking. That's what people did back then.
I was a young show off of a boy. Soon to be the post Woodstock generation.
No matter what stage of life I was at Joan and Jay would treat me and my siblings with love and respect.
Then I moved to Colorado in 1976 Christmas. That left long times that I didn't get to see J and J. But a few times over the years.
Fast forward twenty plus years and Joan and Jay would come to Colorado for my son's wedding. After a beautiful wedding in Golden Co. We also took them to see Boulder and it was just nice to be together. A few years later they said that was one of their favorite vacations.
That made me so happy.
The miles and the years were hard to overcome at times but what times we had were cherished.
Thank you everyone for sharing your memories and stories, comments. They do help. Knowing that so many of you got to know her, and Jay.
I will miss my dear friend Joan. Over 40 years of friendship between my husband Gary and Joan and Jay and many fun times. Wonderful trips, sharing many yummy dinners and many competitive card games. My kids and grandkids thought of them as family and she will be dearly missed by all of us. Love you Joan. Forever in our hearts! 💕
