Mr. Cheeks was a kind and talented man who touched so many lives. Blessings and prayers to the family.
My prayers to the family. I had Mr. Cheeks as a Teacher all three years at Alexander. I still have the butcher block I made in Shop after 38 years. I learned a lot from him about life.

Mr. Cheeks you were a great teacher! I enjoyed learning from you. Still have my first thing I made in your class hanging in my house! You will be missed!
I was a student at Alexander, a classmate if Jeff's. Condolences to you all.
Mr. Cheeks was a good man, wonderful teacher, and a great friend. I missed a lot of classes because he needed something welded. Most of the time these broken parts belonged to someone in the community that needed a helping hand. He was a great role model for us boys. It is sad to say, but they don't make men and teachers like that anymore.
Mr. Cheeks was a good man--- a good teacher and coach--- and a good friend to his students--- and had a great sense of humor. No doubt he will be greatly missed.
So sad to hear this. I still have the cubes I made in class. I think there were just two of us girls who did didn't do home ec. It was a great class.
Coach Cheeks was BY FAR my favorite teacher and coach at Alexander. I took shop with him and he coached me all three years I ran track there. Always fair, always calm and level headed. I remember him calmly and smartly handling a racism incident. I also remember him telling me once when I was driving nails into a woodworking project we were all doing, he said "Patterson, you're planting them like radishes... spread those nails out some". Every time I drive a nail I think of that. Still cracks me up to this day!! Great man!!! I'll be praying for his family. Rest In Peace coach!!
I did not personally have Mr. Cheeks as a teacher, but still remember him fondly. He was someone who always spoke in passing, and always brightened my day with a smile. My condolences to the family, may your wonderful memories, and God's peace sustain you.
