John Whitlow's Obituary
John R. Whitlow, 95 of Charlotte died September 30, 2014. He was born on June 25, 1919 to the late John and Pinkie Whitlow. He served in the US Army and was the commander of American Legion #321. John worked for Bausch and Lomb for 35 years as an optician. Following retirement at the age of 62, he moved to Garden City and very much enjoyed the years he spent at the coast.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Borders Whitlow and 1 grandchild, Scotty Curry. Survivors include his son Jay and wife Vickie of Huntersville; daughters, Jean Hunter and husband Stan of Covington, GA, Marsha Puckett and husband Mike of Charlotte and Suzi Knight and husband Ronnie of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and his companion Pepe.
Memorials may be made to the Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Dr., Huntersville, NC 28078 or Independence Hill Baptist Church, 10220 Independence Hill Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 3 at Independence Hill Baptist Church (Worship Center) with Rev. Todd Marlin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 prior in the Worship Center.
