I have visited Joe a number of times at University Place with my fellow Legionnaires and Joe was always very kind and never complained. My deepest sympathy to his family. I believe he is at peace in our Lord’s presence.
I met Joe a few years ago, shortly after I was Ordained to the Diaconate. It was an honor and privilege to visit with him and bring him Holy Communion. He was always upbeat and happy to see me. I enjoyed the time I spent with him, especially when we talked about playing baseball / stickball in our younger days. We agreed that the game now was nothing like the game we grew up loving. He also enjoyed talking about his children and was very proud of their accomplishments. I’ll miss our time together and there will be a hole in my Wednesday visitations where I use to see Joe. My sincere condolences and continued prayers to his wife Doris, son Michael and daughter Jenna.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord
And let perpetual light shine upon him,
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed
Through the Mercy of God, rest in peace
Peace,
Deacon Joe
Uncle Joe, I hope wherever you are, there is ‘lots of baseball. You waited and watched for long enough. We love you
I work with the Rehab department at the skilled nursing facility where Joe resided. I would come to see him for therapy and always enjoyed seeing him. Joe always had a sweet and positive attitude, no matter how much pain he felt. He loved having a plate of fruit at breakfast every day. I enjoyed hearing stories about his youth and time spent playing baseball. I am saddened to hear of his passing, but I take comfort in that he is no longer at the mercy of MS.
Joe’s family is very wonderful and showed their support for him every day. I am deeply sorry for your loss.
We met Joe and Dolores about 26 years ago when our girls were entering kindergarten at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic School. Although we did not see Joe often over the years, when we did, he never ceased to amaze us. Despite his very debilitating illness, we never heard Joe complain and he always kept such a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. We visited Joe a few weeks ago and when asked how he was doing, Joe responded, “couldn’t be better”. Watching Joe’s life’s journey from a distance helped us to understand the importance of not taking anything in life for granted and to be grateful for the simple things. Joe Galanti was a true inspiration.
Dolores, Michael and Jenna, we are thinking of you all. Love, Patty and Patrick Mulhall
