Kathryn Reid's Obituary
Kathryn Sally Reid, of Charlotte, born February 18, 1954, Kathy peacefully transitioned to eternity September 9, 2020. Throughout her courageous journey with ovarian cancer she never gave up hope. It is only appropriate that her life began and ended in Charlotte, NC, the city she loved.
Never retiring, she worked until the end and was proud of her career with the City of Charlotte’s Engineering and Projects Department where she was known as “Kate.”
Always a dreamer, Kathy had a peaceful soul and generous heart. She was a patron of the arts and supported countless causes and organizations. She believed in public television and radio and collected local artists’ works. From a young age she loved music, Dave Koz being her favorite musician. She enjoyed books and movies and rocking on a porch or cruise deck while listening to the ocean.
Known as one of “the Reid girls,” Kathy will remain in the hearts of many. She is survived by her sisters and her brother-in-laws, Elizabeth and Jerel Reavis and Susan and Henry Cook, all of Huntersville. She also leaves her nieces Randi Reavis of Wilmington, NC and Katy Cook of Huntersville and nephews and their wives, Henry Lee and Erica Cook of Huntersville and David and Annette Cook of Apex, NC. She had a special place in her heart for her five great nieces and nephews, Ashlynn, Amelia, Hunter, Hank and Caroline - all “her Cookies”- and they adored their “Aunt Kathy”. She was preceded in death by her parents Kathryn and Harold Reid. Kathy was passionate about recycling for our future generations.
If you choose to honor her memory she would appreciate you taking your time to recycle and support local artists through the Arts & Science Council of Charlotte, 222 S Church St Suite 300, Charlotte, NC 28202.
At Kathy’s request there will be no service.
James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
